Tetbury Goods Shed is a creative and ambitious arts centre, converted from a Victorian GWR railway building in 2017.
Within walking distance of the town centre, it offers locals and tourists alike a chance to watch live music and theatre in a stunning setting.
Once a week the centre is turned into a Cinema showcasing the latest blockbusters as well as art house films. Regular community classes, including dance and choir practice are also held in the auditorium.
Just behind the venue, a recently renovated Finnish railway carriage stands proud and is home to art and craft workshops for both children and adults, beginners and those more experienced.
Whilst you’re visiting, be sure to pop into the Whistle Stop Cafe – The Goods Shed’s eatery – offering hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and light lunches. Open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday, the Café welcomes residents, visitors and tourists, dog walkers, cyclists, passers-by, parents and grandparents and anyone else attracted to Tetbury’s historic Victorian Goods Shed.
The entire arts centre is run by the Tetbury Rail Lands Regeneration Trust whose volunteers campaigned and fundraised for more than twenty years to save the building from demolition. Many of those volunteers have stayed on board to manage events and performances, and help to turn Tetbury Goods Shed into a regional centre of excellence for the arts in the south Cotswolds.

Tetbury Town Council acquired 3.5 acres of Tetbury’s former railway land in 1997.
At the time the Tetbury Rail Lands Regeneration Trust (TRLRT) was set up to raise funding and to support the development of the site. Over the intervening years, the former marshalling yard became a free long stay car park, the old stock market was converted into a Millennium Green and three miles of the former track bed became a linear Town to Country Park.
Tetbury Town Council working in conjunction with board members and friends of TRLRT, came up with a new, simplified and affordable plan to convert the Goods Shed into an Arts Centre.
More information regarding the regeneration of the Goods Shed can be found under the Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centres website.
